What is "AcroYoga"?! ... Acrobatics? Yoga?

AcroYoga combines acrobatic concepts with a yogic consciousness. Acroyoga is a term used since 1999 by Jessie Goldberg and Eugene Poku in Montreal, and it is a physical practice which combines yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage. The concept of "being in the moment" and in balance with another person is the essence of AcroYoga.

Learning Acroyoga requires breathing, focus, and an ability to have some fun.

A typical Acro Yoga session will include:

  • Warm-up
  • Practicing and learning Acro skills
  • Wrap-up and cool down

** Kate will be present and available at all Open Gym/Jam times to provide guidance or instruction. Just ask and I'm happy to help! Anything from an introduction to Acro for first-timers, to working on some intermediate skills with you.

You can learn Acro by yourself, but it takes time, discipline and responsibility, as you may not know all the techniques that will make the practice safe, for yourself and others.
